Black Robin (Local Highwayman)
Before the age of the combustion engine, when passengers came to and fro by mail coach, a notorious
highwayman by the name of Black Robin terrorised the travellers.
He is reported to have been a thorough scoundrel, shooting down coachmen in cold blood.
His end was richly deserved when he was caught and hanged on the gallows erected at Barham Cross
Roads.
